Places I’ve Been

I’ve been wanting to join ‘Oh, the PLACES I’ve been for ages and I haven’t really been anywhere exciting so I thought I’d share with you the places I really have been lately. These pictures will show you why I have had very little time to read blogs or even think about blogging lately!!! I live on a large farm in Australia (7300 ac) which Mr FH and I run by ourselves. Seeding time is very busy so I am sharing with you some snaps from out and about on the farm. We have just finished planting 2300 ac of crop (canola, barley and wheat) and we run about 5000 sheep. I don’t do any tractor driving but I do help out with everything else. Over the years I have received a couple of serious injuries from working in the sheep yards and I find it very tiring doing farm work. My idea of a great day is dressing up and ‘doing lunch’ and a little bit of shopping, not working on the farm!! I hope you enjoy these photos!

Can you see the vapour trail in this last photo?? We are on the main flight path to the eastern states and we always see these gorgeous features across our sky…wish I was up there at this moment!!

Woodland Tablescape

We nearly have our cropping programme finished for this year. Boy, have we been busy. It is really hard for Mr FH and I to run our 7300 acre farm without any help. I try to help as much as I can but I must admit farm work isn’t my favourite thing to do!!! Hopefully the next few years will be kind to us and we can enjoy some travel time together.
I set a very quick table this week after I had purchased this gorgeous woodland fabric which was perfect for a tablecloth. I already had the china which was only a setting for 4 so I mixed and matched to stretch it to seat 6.  I had purchased the candlesticks on clearance during the summer holidays and I just love the colour and finish. Napkins are form a pack of teatowels I have used before.

I enjoyed setting this earthy table ready for winter. I can see myself serving up large bowls of warm soup to family and friends here.
Happy Monday!

Banana Cake

Today I  made this yummy, yummy banana cake!! I sometimes  make banana muffins or banana cake when I have bananas that have passed their peak. Mr FH is not that fond of muffins so I made this banana and pecan cake. I made it in a spring tin and drizzled icing over it while it was still a little warm then added more pecans. I usually make it in a loaf tin and it always seems to rise up in the centre so the ring tin certainly solved that problem. I quickly set a small morning tea tray ready for a visit from some friends. I used the cutest paper napkins with shoes on (very me!!) and plain white china. Very simple, very quick and very enjoyable!!

Mother’s Day

I had such a lovely Mother’s Day. I had coffee with my Mum at my sister’s coffee shop on Sunday morning. We live 80 kms away from my Mum and I hadn’t expected to see her but Mr FH had a bit of a drama on Friday night and lost the crown off his front tooth so it was a quick trip to the dentist on Sunday morning. Yes, we do know our dentist well!! LOL We then went to a local game of football where we met up with DNo2 and her cute little girls. We spent the afternoon with them and some good friends of ours. SNo 1 drove from the city and met us for dinner at our local pub and he is staying with us for a few days. I love having him home to stay!! I had stayed with DNo 1 and her husband and boys on Thursday and Friday so I’d had an early catch up with them. All around it was a lovely day. I received some lovely flowers, chocolates, hand cream and body scrub from my beautiful kids. I went to bed last night feeling happy and grateful.

New look store

Our local Freedom store has had an update.  I always find something there I need to buy but now the whole place has had a revamp and it is just gorgeous. Lots of gorgeous colours and textures.
How simple is this table??? I love how they have used different chairs on each side.

There was an amazing display of lamps. Some were nearly as tall as me and others had the cutest burlap shades.

The only thing I bought were the moss balls (which my Mum thought I called moth balls!!!). I would love some of these beautiful yellow mats......
