And look what I won today!!

This is amazing…..Last week I won that gorgeous black clock at a garden party and yesterday Mr FH and I called at our friends house to see their gorgeous garden open for the spring festival and I bought the last three tickets in the raffle and won!!! This time I won a beautiful standard rose (kindly donated by my sister from her nursery and giftshop  - thanks sis!!) and this lovely print!! I don’t normally have anything blue in our home but just this last week I bought fabric to make new cushion covers for our living room. The fabric is blue and white and green and white which I thought would be perfect for a new summer look. Now I have the perfect print to go with my new look.

How cute is this………

Look what I won!!

I told you all about the High Tea fundraiser I went to last week…….well after I left the garden (we left early to go to the beach house for the weekend) I won the raffle. I won this gorgeous black clock so I took it to the beach house this weekend  and found a home for it!!! It will always remind me of my dear friend who has passed away. The fund raising afternoon raised an amazing $10,000.00!  Such an unbelievable amount from an amazing group of friends. It just goes to prove what a special person our friend was. Another of her friends recently completed in the annual city to surf fun run to raise money for cancer research. She works for a mining company who agreed to match the amount of money she raised. She did such an incredible job and raised $13,000.00 herself so her employer matched that and increased the donation to $26,000.00.
$36,000.00 all for cancer research in memory of this beautiful lady.

High Tea

I had the most gorgeous afternoon on Friday. I attended a High Tea which was a fund raising event for cancer research. The day was in memory of a beautiful soul who lost her life earlier this year. She was just 39 years old. One hundred and fifty ladies(and a few men) had a wonderful time. The weather was perfect, the food delicious and the garden unbelievable. Please share these photos of the afternoon with me.

All the waitresses wore these cute aprons they had sewn with our dear friend, Peta’s name embroided on the pocket.
Such a wonderful memories of such a vibrant person.

Gift shop displays

I have spent a couple of days re-doing the displays at the gift shop. I just love working there even though I am exhausted when I get home. The Christmas stock is starting to arrive so I will spend a day displaying that next week. As soon as I walked in the other day I spied these cushions!!! I just loved the soft green and teamed with the grey I think they make a great display.

Doesn’t this day bed look inviting??? As you can  see the shadows where starting to come across as it was late afternoon. I find this area quite hard to photograph as it has the large window behind but this is usually the first display I do…something eye catching for the window. This spotted china is just gorgeous. I’m thinking I might have to buy this myself…maybe if I ask Secret Santa nicely!!!

Aren’t the little bowls beautiful??
Another display I did was with the black and white china. Sometimes black and white looks a bit nothing by itself so I usually try to bring a pop of colour into the display. This week I used bright pink. I had found this roll of wrapping paper in pink with little French ladies and their poodles. It was just enough to give the display a lift. You will also notice a couple of glass cloches….these are just for Marty with her cloche party this week!!

Wet paint!

I had found a few old bottles around the farm and as much as I tried they still would not come clean. On the weekend I decided I  would paint them and distress them a little. Well, the painting got done but not the distressing! I am very impatient and as soon as I had slapped the paint on (yes, I was going for a vintage look!) I wanted to use them on a table, hence then heading ‘Wet paint’. I felt they needed a little something on them so they weren’t quite so plain so I found some of my old earrings from the 70’s and took the backs off and glued them to the bottles before I painted them. As you will see, I had to place the bottles on a white platter to stop the paint from getting on my dining table!!  Ah, the things we do!

I see in one of the photos the gremlins have been and shifted a fork a little! How come I don’t see these things until I look back at the photos?
