Seasonal Sunday

Before Easter I had been looking for some small white eggs to ModPodge some tissue paper onto and I could only find these brown paper ones. I had ideas to paint these white then cover them but thankfully I didn’t get it done (surprise!!surprise!!).
I had seem some stamped with small black letters but I didn’t have any stamps that small but did find some rub-ons in my scrapbooking stash so I used them. Super easy and super quick and I love them.
I needed to change my tabletop display in my familyroom and as we are coming into autumn here in Australia I was looking for a more natural look. Not easy in a pink and green Shabby chic room but I think they fit in perfectly.

Fancypants Dinner

I had a great time on the weekend…we went to the beach house again (probably the last time for a while….) and had our eldest daughter and her husband and two gorgeous boys come for a couple of nights. I had been to Perth to watch Mary Poppins at the theatre (just fabulous!!) and do a little shopping on Friday.
My niece had asked me to set a table for her monthly dinner group called Fancypants. What a great name!! They meet once a month – every second month is at a restaurant and the other month at a member’s home.
This month was C’s turn. She is living in my sister’s townhouse at the moment which sits right on the water so I felt a beachy look was the way to go. The dining table is white washed and beachy looking so that part was really easy.
I used her flatware and white china and added my soft blue napkins. The large blue bowl in the centre was hers but I added my white cake stand and topped it with candles. We layered the table – white cloth, taupe runner and woven mats that were all in her cupboard. I just added the jute around the candles and also the flatware.
I think the table looks just fabulous with the gorgeous wall print behind. Reports are they all had a great time.

A day at the hospital

Today I’m feeling a little slow…..Yesterday I took my Mum to the city for some medical appointments. We had stayed at the beach house for the weekend so travelled up to the hospital (about an hour away) ready for our appointment at 9.30am. Well, we had our appointment at 11.50!!!! What a long morning. We came out around 1 o’clock and quickly headed around the corner for her appointment for her hearing aides. Straight back to the hospital for her pre-admission (she is having a shoulder replacement soon) at 2 o’clock and finally after going from room to room and everyone asking the same questions we walked out of the hospital at 4.50! We hadn’t even had lunch until 4 o’clock. If we had known how long we were to wait in the morning we could have fitted some of the pre-admission work in then. So after driving the 300kms home I walked into my house at 8.30pm.
How is your public health system going????
I have lots of housework to do today so I’d better get moving.

Fun family buffet

I recently saw a tablescape done by Alycia where she displayed all her fine work on a buffet (or buff – et, as my daughters call it!) and I thought that is one table I really hadn’t done many of so of course that got my mind going. All sorts of ideas came into my mind (as usual) but I ended up setting my buffet in red, black and white. Mainly I think because I had three sets of flatware that would go nicely with the red, black and white china I had.

I have reused my flower pots I painted with blackboard paint for the flatware. I really had everything else except for the black and white check salad plates – they are a recent purchase. Also I may have just bought the black stemmed glasses and yes, I forgot, also the black and white toile napkins but really that is all I purchased!!

Just a little Easter colour

I knew my friend was stopping by for a coffee over Easter so I did a little baking. Aren’t these little cupcake papers just beautiful?? They have tiny rabbits on them – just perfect for Easter.

I already had this tray set up on my kitchen table so I just moved that to the sunroom so we could sit there and enjoy the last of the sunshine coming through the window. I love these little papers – they are just big enough for one bite! I used a cream cheese topping (my favourite) on them. I adore these gorgeous eggs – I bought a three dozen crate of them!! Just the most gorgeous colours. I have used my interesting old coffee table that I revampped here - check it out - the diffence is amazing!
We had a very relaxing Easter and had dinner at my sister’s townhouse with them last night. She had set the most gorgeous table in blue and silver but I forgot my camera!!! I couldn’t believe it – I always carry my point and shoot with me but Mr FH and I had travelled to the city to see a football match and it was a little heavy in my bag so I took it out and forgot to put it back.
I hope you all had a lovely time with your family and friends.
