If life gives you lemons......

What do you do???? Stuff them in a lovely vase with some flowers and set a pretty table to match.

I set the table with my vintage dinner set (our wedding china from 34 years ago!) and used some gorgeous brown spotted teatowels I had bought and cut up to make napkins. This was looking ok but this is where I started to wander - hence the next photo of the lovely winter-blue sky!!

Suddenly I had the solution - I had bought 7 napkins from the thrift store for $2.50 a few days ago and had soaked them then washed them and they were sitting in my ironing basket. They were just what I needed so out with the iron and suddenly the table had the bit of zing it needed.

PS. I have been MIA a bit lately - my girlfriend sadly lost her mum last week and also Mr FH and I hosted our family Xmas in July (yes, I know it's August!) at the beachhouse so life has been a bit hectic. Hopefully I'll be able to catch up soon.

Rosy Red Teaset

I have been back helping my sister with her gift shop again. She was interstate with her husband on a buying trip so I had a few days 'playing' in the shop. I didn't manage to get so much done this time as I have been suffering quite badly with asthma. My darling little grandsons shared their cold with me and it triggered my asthma. I'm starting to get on top of it now but it was really hard going last week!

I just love these fabulous flower pots - the rustic red and green are just beautiful.

These wonderful teatowels look too good to use - how's that for a good excuse!!

I love the gorgeous shape of this teapot, creamer and sugar bowl. Check out that gorgeous rose covered flower pot in the background!!

These little square serving bowls sit on their own tray - just perfect for jams on a breakfast tray.

So many gorgeous things to look at here....

I just love this red cushion - it is a mass of gorgeous red fluff. We had some pale pink ones the same but they sold very quickly.

                                                          Have a great week,

Gum tree green

We live in an old house surrounded by the Aussie bush. I like having the natural bushland around (except for bushfire season!!) and everything that it brings with it. The colours are just beautiful and it wasn't until I looked back at my photos for today's tablescape that I realised my green tableware was the perfect match for the Aussie bush.

I had so much fun doing this table - it wasn't what I had started out to do but it turned out just fine.

My inside-out tablescape!

Actually, it's really more like an outside-in tablescape!  I started setting my table outside on an old wooden table I had painted purple years ago. As you can see, it has really faded and the paint has started to peel. As soon as I started the rain started sprinkling down - I guess this is what happens in winter!!

I was in such a hurry my flatware isn't even straight!! I do love the look of the old table though.

I had made this rustic old fence years ago (about the same time I painted the table!) to section off part of the garden. It is made from old jam posts and twisted wire.

These happy pansies are in some old bottles I had found and cleaned but in my hurry I really didn't get a proper photo of them.

Lavender and rafia - two of my favourite things!

Down came the rain.....at this stage there was a mad rush to pack everything up and get inside.

Gorgeous purple flowers with drops of water on them look great with the burlap runner.

Now we are safely inside my sunroom. I was past setting another complete table at this stage so I just  set out one place setting and quickly took a few more snaps.

I don't know why I just didn't start in here......
