As blue as the sky

We are having the most gorgeous autumn weather here at the moment. The days are warm and sunny but this week we finally have some lovely rains coming our way.

I bought 2 blue dinner plates and matching side plates a while ago and I hadn't used them yet so I thought I would make a very feminine table out in the garden in the sunshine.

I tied the plates and white bowls up with some strips of white tulle just to change things a little.

Sparkling crystal glassware looked lovely on the white table.

I used some of my white table runners which I had washed and dried in the dryer and left them un-ironed. I'm not sure if I like this look or not.....

The gorgeous flowers belong in DNo 1's bedroom but they looked perfect on this table.

Layers of gorgeous white tulle like this would be fabulous for a wedding.

The plates are the same colour as the sky!!

Lunch with the birds!

We have just had the outside of our house painted and it looks so nice and clean. As we haven't had any rain and lots of dust all summer things were looking very dull. I have been cleaning my porch (still have new chair covers to make so I can't show you yet!) so today while I was out there sweeping I thought I'd put together a bright and sunny tablescape.

The little birdhouses were in the after-Easter sales and very cheep!! I made the napkins out of craft fabric and everything else I really had in my cupboards or around the house. Oh, the coffee mugs were in a set of 4 for $10 from Kmart.

A Change in the Kitchen

I've had a change - I have changed the dresser in my kitchen. I started off with my white thrifted soup tureen (which you can read about here) and then gathered up all the white china I could find in the house.

I lived with that for a few days but it really looked a bit 'nothing'. I'm sure you know what I mean.

I'm still going to paint and distress the dresser but as yet haven't found the time!! I'm going to see if those gorgeous chalk paints are available here in Australia yet. The colours I have seen in them are just beautiful.

The bright green apples just seem to make everything pop. They were for an apple crumble which you can see hasn't been baked yet!

I love the texture of these gorgeous woven balls.

White tulips - I have seen so many of these around blogland I just had to have some...

Daughter No 1 thought the change was so much better - much more modern she said!!!  I think that means I passed!

I hope you like my changes as much as I do!! I am reposting an earlier post about my dresser so you can see the difference. (Also cos I've just learnt how to repost - thanks girls!!).

A few years ago when my Dad died he left me some money - not a lot but money he had worked hard for and had saved so I decided I would buy myself something really nice to keep in his memory. I thought for quite a while before I decided on a Royal Albert dinner set in Old Country Roses design. Over the years I have been lucky enough to receive lots of accessories to match. I thought I would share it with you for this week's teascapes.

This tall glass is actually a candle that matches the colour of the roses perfectly.

I love cups all stacked up like this - especially when they are this pretty!!

The chintz plates are really my all time favourite - if I could have a complete dinner set like this I would be in heaven!

I have matching placemats and coasters in two different sizes - it is amazing how many accessories there are too match.

Even a guest book - please take the time to leave me a message. lol

More cups piled high.

No table would be complete without the matching salt and pepper shakers, sugar bowl and creamer. We received this beautiful sugar spoon as a wedding present - it has a beautiful rose on the end.

Platters in all shapes and sizes...

Even a pretty little cake stand - once again I have been baking (not)!!

How stunning is this chintz?? I love this in any colour - not that I have any others but I have seen lots in antique shops. On my wish list.....

This china is also Royal Albert Old Country Roses but in a more country style - not quite as dainty as the other.

I had intentions of painting this old dresser before I showed any photos but as usual time just gets away. I still intend painting it so I will keep you posted and show it to you once it is finished

Busy, busy, busy!

My life seems to be getting busier and busier lately - or maybe I'm just getting slower!! I'm back at work now - the school holidays are over, worse luck! We are desperately waiting for rain to start our cropping programme. Our sheep are lambing at the moment and are really looking for some nice green feed but all we seem to have right now is a dust bowl. Fingers crossed for the next few weeks. We have had DNo 1 and her two little boys staying with us for 4 days as her husband had to fly inter-state on business - that was so much fun......lots of morning cuddles in bed with Nanny and Boppy!! We were also having some repairs to our house (before it falls down!!! LOL) and decided to have the house painted while we were on a roll. It looks really great now but unfortunately painters aren't very kind to gardens. So not only has our poor garden suffered from the hottest, driest summer ever the painters have now walked over anything that had survived! So lots of gardening to do also I need to clean all my porch furniture and spruce that up a bit.

I had planned on setting a different table for todays tablescape but ran out of time. Luckily I had a couple of 'tables' spare so I will share one of those. Enjoy!!!
